 In the heart of Mountain View, amidst Alaska's most colorful and diverse neighborhood, Stand UP Alaska and Alaskans Take A Stand found their collective home within Umoja Coworking and Incubator. A decision rooted in shared missions and visions for a future where social, racial, economic, and environmental justice is not just an ideal, but a living, breathing reality in Alaska. Here, within the walls of Umoja, our missions intertwine, fostering a loving, accepting environment  aimed at uplifting every Alaskan. 

 Umoja, a Swahili term that translates to unity, perfectly encapsulates what we strive for - unity in diversity, strength in community. Launched in 2020, Umoja Coworking and Incubator emerged as a beacon for underrepresented entrepreneurs, offering not just a space, but a sanctuary where culture and business collide, creating ripples of change across Anchorage and beyond.

For us, Umoja is more than a coworking space; it is a living testament to what we believe in - that everyone, irrespective of color, creed, or community, deserves a seat at the table. A place where BIPOC faces in leadership are not just accepted, but celebrated. A space that transcends being "safe" to become empowering, where dreams and visions are nurtured, and where the collective us triumphs over the individual me.

Stand UP Alaska and Alaskans Take A Stand have always championed the people's voices, from the historical effort to recall Governor Michael Dunleavy to the groundbreaking campaigns that led to Senator Murkowski's support on critical issues. Our work is driven by a deep-seated belief in advocacy, education, and action - principles that find a perfect echo in Umoja's values.

Umoja Coworking offers the ideal fertile ground for our initiatives like the Alaska Civics Academy, Umoja Pride, and the Alaskans Take A Stand Monthly Learning Exchange.
