Food is a universal language that connects us all. Our bodies remember the food of our ancestors, and the places where this food is cultivated. Through the nourishment of our traditional foods our culture and communities remain vibrant.
Alaskans Take a Stand promotes Alaskan food security and food sovereignty through the support of community driven food projects such as:
The Stickleback Farm Site
The Rebarchek Food Forest
The Alaska State Fair Grounds Traditional Plant Garden
The Protest of the Nena Land Sale
We recognize the intimate linkage between our actions, our economy, and our environment.
We must shift our relationship with our environment, and each other, in order to realize a more just and inclusive economy.
Alaskan’s Take a Stand is an organizing member of the Alaska Climate Alliance Regenerative Economies Working Group, and the Economic Vision Coalition.
ATAS has worked For the past several years on identifying barriers to Medicaid for Alaskans. In 2023 we will kick off a program to assist Alaskans by helping them get signed up for Medicaid to obtain the healthcare they need and deserve.
We are a part of National movement for The Medicaid Barriers Project reaching out to our community to bring awareness of "The Unwinding" of Medicaid eligibility and the changes that will take place on April 1st, 2023. Be sure to report all changes to avoid a gap in your Medicaid or Denali Kidcare coverage. Get ready to renew information, especially if you have moved, started a new job or had a new baby. You can update your information by calling 1.800.478.7778 or go to medicaidrenewals.alaska.gov.
If you’re needing assistance applying or renewing your case for Medicaid benefits or have questions please feel free to contact Jen at jennifer@standupalaska.org or harlee@standupalaska.org
